Israel is trading "land for peace"--evacuating the Gaza Strip and parts of Samaria in a goodwill gesture towards the Palestinians. But Israel is divided about this: Gaza is part of the land promised to Abraham--giving up Gaza is like rejecting the Biblical promise.

But will Palestine be satisfied with Gaza? What do they really want? Does Arafat's successor really want peace, or is Mahmoud Abbas merely adopting the Koranic strategy of peace with your enemy now--until you are in a position to fight and defeat him?

What is the Palestinian-Islamic agenda? What is the world agenda? And God's agenda? What is the history of the region?

Under King David 3000 years ago Jerusalem became Israel's capital--that was 2000 years before Islam was born in 7th century A.D. For Jews today, Jerusalem remains the Biblical--and eternal--capital of Israel, the land God Himself has chosen for ever. After the destruction of the city in AD 70 and the expulson of the Jews, Jerusalem never became the capital of any other kingdom.

It is so significant that it is the Palestinians who are in dictating that the price of a peace settlement must include making Jerusalem their capital.

We showed you in Our Autum 2000 edition of Prophetic Vision that the Palestinians have already built their Parliament building in East Jerusalem: although still unused, it is there as the photographs show. This raises a serious question. Jerusalem is the capital of God's Kingdom, and it is to ths exact place that Jesus will return as King to rule the earth--Zech. 14: 4-9; Acts 1:11. So will it be in Israeli or Islamic hands when He returns? And how can the prophecies concerning the re-building of the Temple and the re-institution of the sacrifice be fulfilled unless it is under Jewish control?

The Bible says clearly that after Chgrist returns, Jerusalem will be the "throne of the Lord"--Jer. 3:17. Then all the peoples of the world will go up to Jerusalem to worship--Zech. 14:16; Is. 66: 5-24. Yet, at this present moment, before Messiah's return, whilst the capitals of all other countries are unreservedly recognised by the world's governments, only Jerusalem, Israel's declared capital since 1967, is as yet unrecognised. Only after the Lord's return will representatives of the nations come up to Jerusalem as the center of world government--Zech. 14:16.

For more than 6 centuries Jewish and Arab communities lived together under the heavy yoke of the Turkish-Ottoman Empire in the land God gave Israel. The defeat of Germany together with her Turkish ally in the 1914-18 war brought liberation to the entire Middle East. The League of Nations, created at that time as the first "world government", carved up the Ottoman Empire, allocating less than one fifth of one per cent to the Jews, and 99.8 per cent to the Arabs. In 1921, to pacify Arab grievance that any land at all had been granted to the Jews, a further 80 per cent was given away to the Arabs! During the 1920s and 30s, pressure mounted on Jews both in Europe and in the Middle East (many Jews fled to the Mid-East to escape the persecution in Europe). Hitler devised his "solution to the Jewish problem" in Europe, and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem (blood relative of Arafat [though disputed by some authorities, as his claim to legitimacy by a very, very distant relation--Ed.) met with him, to promise him war support, if in return, Hitler would then apply the same "solution to the Jewish problem" in the Middle East.

In the aftermath of the holocaust of 6 million European Jews in World War II, one of the first acts of the United Nations--our present "world government--was to announce their "solution" to the post-war "Jewish problem" int he Middle East; to divide the Holy Land and create a Jewish and an Arab state side by side; the city of Jerusalem was to become a separate entity under ther UN. The UN built itself its own headquarters in Jerusalem--on the Mount of Evil Counsel-overlooking the Mount of Olives and the Temple Mount [how appropriate, yet ironical: the "Mount of Evil Counsel" being chosen as the site of the global organization of evil counsellors, the United Nations! Orthodox Jews in New York have a good name too for the wicked and corrupt UN--"House of Lies," which it is, indeed.--Ed].

But Joel 3:2 warns that God will judge the nations that divide His land, the land of Israel.

The UN adopted the plan of partition on 29 November 1947. And, on 14 May 1948, Israel once again became a nation in fulfillment of God's promise--Is. 66:8. This day is remembered by the Moslem nations as the "Day of Catastrophe". There is a Koranic reason for this; once territory has been included in the House of Islam, it must forevewr remain Moslem. Jerusalem was captured by Mohammed's successor in 638 AD and the entire Holy Land became a Moslem possession. So how would Allah allow this tiny nation of Israel in 1948 to take the land back? Not possible!

Within hours of the declaration of Israel as a state, six Arab nations invaded from the north, east and south, and by air. The Arab League issued this press statement: "This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre." But Israel miraculously survived, not only this, but a total of the five Arab wars between 1948 and 1972!

Israel occupies an insignificant area, only about the size of Wales in Great Britain, or New Jersey in America, or about half the size of Switzerland; it is surrounded by 21 Arab nations possessing oil-rich loands 500 times the size of Israel. Yet whatever the news in the rest of the world, it is nevertheless Israel that, for more than half a century, continually occupies full-on world attention. The United Nations today consists of 186 nations, the most powerful voting bloc being the 57 Moslem countries. Since the foundation of the UN in 1945, out of 690 General Assembly World Resolutions passed before 1990, a staggering 429 (62 per cent) were directed against Israel! Of the 175 UN Secuyrity Council World Resulutions passed before 1990, 97 (55 per cent) were directed against Israel!

But not even on "little" issues has the UN stood with Israel. The UN was silent when the Jordanians--(who seized and controlled the Holy City between 1948 and 1967)--destroyed 58 Jewish synagogues in Jerusalem. Silent when the Jordanians systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives. Silent when the Jordanians enforced an apartheid like policy preventing Jews from visiting the Temple Mount and the Western Wall. Silent when, in the late 1990s, the Palestinians excavated the Temple Mount, removing the ancient Jewish Temple remains, dumping the invaluable artefacts by night in the Kidron valley.[they did this to destroy evidence that the Jews ever held the Temple Mount and had a Temple there--Ed]

The UN is silent too about the PLO Charter which calls for the extermination of Israel, silent even though this clause was not removed from the Charter as required by the Oslo Peace Accords. And silent about the on-going hate education against Jews in Palestinian schools.

Palestinian Leader Arafat's goal was to take Jerusalem from Israel and make it the capital of his Palestinian state. Not reaching his goal in life, he desired at least to be buried on the Temple Mount. The Israeli government refused, saying, "Jerusalem is the burial place of Jewish kings, not of Arab terrorists." Symbolically, the Palestinians took soil from the Mount and brought it to Ramallah where they buried him--and made an oath that one day his grave will be brought to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem [and may a holy lightning bolt from God in heaven strike it down and pulverize it if they ever try such an abomination!--Ed].

Arafats's successor, Abu Mazen (also known as Mahmoud Abbas), is accepted as a man of peace by the world's governments. But he was co-founder of the PLO with Arafat, and remains in complete accord with the PLO Charter to eliminate Israel and to make Jerusalem the capital of a Palestinian state.

There are two different agendas: the first is supported by the world's governments, that Israel should give the Palestinians "land in exchange for peace"--the second is supported by Islam, no peace, but the final annihilation of Israel by whatever means it takes.

There are two different mind-sets: Mohammed's Koran, and the Judeo-Christian Scripture.

What is your opinion: who, what do you believe?

The Bible says:

Thus says the Lord, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, who divides the sea when the waves roar: If these ordinances depart from before me," says the Lord, "then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before Me for ever....Behold the days come," says the Lord, "that the city shall be built...anbd be holy to the Lord; it shall not be plucked upnor thrown down any more for ever."--Jer. 31: 35-40.

"Behold the day of the Lord comes...I shall gather the nations against Jerusalem to battle...Then shall the Lord go forth and fight against those nations...and His feet shalll stand on that day on the Mount of Olives, which is befor Jerusalem...And the Lord shall be King over all the earth; in that day there shall be one Lord, and His Name one.--Zech. 14: 1-9.
