"Name That Monk Game Show"--
What You Always Wanted to Know about Martin Luther but Didn't Dare Ask
Three Answers will be given for each question, but only one will be correct of course. Whoever is quizzing the group will announce the choices, then after reading all three and getting responses, read the correct answer or approve a correct response from anyone in the group.
It is much more fun to dress up three gentlemen as the monk Martin Luther, and seat them at a table up front. One is the "real" Martin Luther, the other two are imposters. Each can arise, state his answer to the question by the moderator, then the audience is requested for a vote on the three responses, and only then does the moderator rule in favor of the correct answer given by the "real" Martin Luther in the trio.
No. 1: Dr. Luther, what will we do in eternal life - what will occupy our time?
Right: "I can't understand how we will spend our time, no food, no drink--but I think we will have enough to do with God."
Wrong#2: "It goes without saying, in heaven we will have everything we have on earth and much, much more."
Wrong#3: "Happiness, fulfillment, a state of well-being--no illegitimacy, ill will nor illness."
2. WHAT IS YOUR POSITION ON GOOD WORKS AS RELATED TO JUSTIFICATION?
Right: "Works ARE necessary, but...not necessary for salvation."
Wrong#2: "Many good works is an assurance of a strong Christian faith."
Wrong#4: "Justification being the release from the guilt of sin is only to be achieved by praying for forgiveness and good works.
No. 3: WHEN YOU SAID, "LET THE SPIRITS COLLIDE AND FIGHT IT OUT", WHAT WERE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
Right: "I was arguing against the civil punishment of heretics."
Wrong#2: "The conflict of good and evil."
Wrong#3: "I was referring to my battles with the Roman Catholic Church."
